You’re probably already aware, we love to help and support our local community and we all know that your morning can set up the success of your day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it was our pleasure to help serve up some funds for Rye Hills Academy in Redcar with Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation. The funds raised were to help its Breakfast Club for students who come from disadvantaged homes.

With the Redcar area still feeling the aftershock of the SSI steelworks closure, Rye Hills’ Breakfast Club offers students from low income families a hot drink and something to eat so they can start the day right and enjoy school more while assisting with their concentration levels during the day.

The Breakfast Club also offers a valuable opportunity for students to make friends, so we were delighted to work with Teesside Philanthropic Foundation resulting in Rye Hills Academy being provided with £1,500 through the Golden Giveaway. This allowed the school to maintain and expand the service, with the money put towards a laptop so students without internet access can complete their homework.

Talking about his visit, Nigel Willis added “I was happy to help with such an important cause right on our doorstep. Education is crucial in our development and we all know how difficult it can be trying to concentrate when you’re hungry. The Breakfast Club will enable students a place to eat, ready to tackle the days challenges. The additional materials such as the laptop will also assist students with their homework or revision. It’s great to see a school tackling these issues.”

We were more than happy to help with this fantastic and well worth cause, we think you’ll all agree!
