On International Women’s Day we were delighted to attend the 2019 Inspiring Women Awards at The Wilton Centre. The annual event is in a response to a call sent out across Redcar and Cleveland by Redcar’s MP Anna Turley seeking ideas to recognise the late MP Mo Mowlam.

Our MD Nigel Willis and Sales Executive Emma Holborn attended the event to celebrate the efforts and achievements of the inspiring women in our local community.

Additionally, we were proud sponsors of the Individual Achievement Award which was won by Carol Dawson who has overcome a number of obstacles to engage in voluntary work for addiction and domestic violence organisations, acting as a mentor to other women experiencing difficulties.

The event itself was hosted by the talented Julie Donaldson (Zetland FM) and featured a number of both influential and inspirational women from the Tees Valley including Kirsten Donkin (PD Ports), Claire Wordsworth (Sabic), Victoria Smee (Betty Leigh Boutique) & Gemma Sands to name a few.

During the event we were able discuss the achievements and pride of our community with Barry Hunt (Mayor of Redcar & Cleveland). Graham Anderton of Gray Star Forge was also on hand to discuss how he made the awards using his high-quality steel work.

First Choice Labels is a company made up of strong women (and men!) who have made great achievements, in their working and personal life and continue to do so. It was our privilege to take part in such an empowering and thought-provoking event, inspiring the future generation of women.
